What is Tarot?

Tarot has a long tradition that can't be fully tracked to its origins, but that hasn't stopped us from theorizing everything from Egyptian mystics to bored Italian aristocrats.  What we do know is that it was played as both a game and also as a form of piercing the veil of the everyday mundane, to peer into mysteries beyond.  

 

Some believe that a tarot deck has a persona of which we ask questions and receive answers.  Some others believe that we are all connected by our innermost beings, and that our higher self knows which cards to pick to answer that which we want to know, thus leading us to pull the correct spread for our querie.  And still some others believe it's all just random and luck of the draw on what we pick, but because we are human, we choose to rationalize what we see to make it "fit" what want.
